IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO DANCE
In these difficult times, it is more important than ever to keep yourself physically fit, and mentally active. The release of endorphins is just one reason that medical professionals recommend exercise as a way to improve lifestyle while increasing overall fitness. The comradery from class, even online, is a lovely way to socialise with a common goal. If you don't want to join us alone, why not join with a friend - and unlike physical classes, you don't need to live in the same place to have a shared experience.
So why not join our online Silver Swans?
Silver Swans™ classes are designed to help the older learner enjoy movement and dance for lifelong wellbeing. They are inclusive, and are tailored to meet the level of mobility for individuals. The classes are usually 45 minutes to an hour each session, depending on the learners’ needs and offer the chance for participants to have fun and exercise as a group activity. Classes are based around a ballet class and include the use of music.

Silver Swans is a programme designed for adult learners and is a wonderful blend of classical ballet and gentle fitness.
Based on the technique of ballet it encompasses the human need to move and express oneself through dance.
If you are looking for a new way to keep fit & active our ballet classes will put a spring in your step. If you have never danced before or wish to get back into the swing of it, our classes have something for everyone.
Zoe is a licensed RAD Silver Swans teacher, alongside her Classical Ballet Teachers' qualification. She wishes to bring movement to all. An experienced dance teacher with a genuine passion for ballet, Zoe is specifically trained to modify ballet technique for older adults. Whilst Silver Swans classes are specially targeted at older learners, there's no upper or lower age limit - our classes are inclusive for all learners!
The Royal Academy of Dance developed Silver Swans as a pilot project in response to a growing demand for ballet classes for older learners.
“dance is a way to ensure a long and healthy life; it keeps you supple, it’s an aerobic exercise, it gives you spatial awareness, it makes you use your brain, and it gives you some kind of social contact as well. I hope that men and women across the country will take up the Royal Academy of Dance’s invitation to become a Silver Swan.”
Angela Rippon CBE, the RAD’s Silver Swans ambassador
The RAD developed this programme based on research into dance practice for older learners - classes are only taught by Silver Swans Licensees.
